Fix Your Bad Day in Five Minutes or Less

fix your bad day

At one point or another, everyone has experienced the horror of a bad haircut. It was either because your stylist was not skilled enough or because that particular cut really did not suit you.

Regardless, when you first discovered your new look, you were probably quite horrified. Of course, a bad haircut is not an excuse to hide at home until your hair has grown back. You still have to go out and face the world, even deal with a little bit of ridicule.

What is most important to note, however, is how you deal with this particular problem. You take various measures to reduce the severity of the haircut. You also come up with ways of keeping it in check until it has grown out.

While this is the attitude that many people take towards a haircut gone wrong, they do not apply the same strategies to a bad day. By using a similar technique, you will actually be able to correct your less-than-stellar day in a matter of minutes.

Here is what you can do to fix your bad day:

Adopt a Growth Mindset

You cope with a bad hair cut and you implement a set of steps to coax your hair into growing faster. Why not approach your mistakes the same way?

A bad day might be because of something you did or something that was done by others  – intentionally or coincidentally.

No point is cribbing if it was done by others you have no control over. If it was because of your bad judgement use it to fuel your awareness. A mistake is a price you pay to get educated. Grow from your mistakes and stop beating yourself up.

Learn and Adapt. Always make a note of –What triggered you? How you reacted? And think about what you can do in the future if the same situation arises.

Do Not Wallow

A bad day is no different from a bad hair day. If you can fix a bad hair day, you can turn around a bad day in five minutes or less.

The general consensus is that when something goes wrong, people love to wallow. They grasp their misery with open arms and delve into it. This, nonetheless, will do nothing except make you feel worse.

It will certainly not help make your day any better. This is why you have to accept the situation and then let it go. There is no point in worrying or crying, but you can try to figure out how to fix the problem at hand.

“While you can’t stop things from happening, you can control how you respond to them”.

  • Take deep breaths – Inhale deeply for few seconds and then hold it there for another couple of moments. Then, exhale. The increased of oxygen in the body helps in clearing the mind and creates great clarity of the mind.
  • Happy Tunes – Listening to happy, upbeat music has been scientifically proven to put you in a better mood. So, when things get really tough, it is time to plug in those earphones and listen to your favorite song.
  • If you want to take it up a notch, why not watch a funny video on the internet. Watch people playing pranks on one another or animals being hysterical and get that smile back on your face.
  • Focus on the Good – The thing about bad days is that they are usually a blip on an otherwise peaceful existence. This is why you should focus on some of the good things that have happened to you.

Take Action

Taking one single action can boost your mood significantly as your brain records Victory.

  • Make that call
  • Send that e-mail
  • De-clutter
  • Go for a long walk

Better yet why not de-stress yourself with a strenuous weightlifting session in the gym?

Iron therapy can change your emotions and how you feel. You’d always walk out of the gym with enthusiasm and much more energy than with what you walked in.
